Hey there, fellow anglers! Ready to hit the water for some serious inshore action? Stellar Charters has got you covered with our Private 5-Hour Inshore Fishing Trip right here in beautiful Savannah, GA. We're talking prime fishing grounds, expert guidance, and a boatload of fun. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your feet wet, this trip is your ticket to hauling in some impressive catches and making memories that'll last a lifetime.
Alright, here's the lowdown on your day with us. We'll push off from Midway, Georgia, and cruise out to some of the hottest inshore spots around. You've got 5 solid hours to work those rods and fill up the cooler. We're talking flounder, trout, redfish, and maybe even a shark or two if you're feeling lucky. Our experienced guides know these waters like the back of their hand, so you'll be in prime position to land the big ones. And don't worry if you're new to this - we'll show you the ropes and have you casting like a pro in no time.
On this trip, we'll be using tried-and-true inshore fishing techniques to get those fish biting. We're talking light tackle action, folks. You might be working soft plastics along the bottom for flounder, or maybe tossing live bait under a popping cork for some trout action. For those big redfish, we might break out the cut bait and let it sit. And if we're going after sharks, get ready to use some heavier gear and bigger baits. Whatever the target, we've got the gear and the know-how to put you on fish.
Don't just take my word for it - check out what some of our recent guests have to say:
"Awesome day on the water we're into fish all day." - Michael
"Captain Hector was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and entertaining. He took us to a few different spots and catered to our wants and needs. We will definitely be using stellar charters again!" - Tyson
"I very seldom write a review. Captain Hector is the BEST!!!! I took my son and his best man fishing for the "bachelor party". It was not an ideal day weather wise; the weather man was wrong. Strong winds, white caps in the sound and river, and dark clouds. Captain Hector offered to reschedule for a better day, but we decided to go anyway. The tide was against us most of the day, we ran to several spots throughout the day, and we caught fish. We fished hard all day and put fish in the cooler. Captain Hector turned a 5-hour trip into almost a 9-hour trip at no extra charge just to make sure they had a great day. Both caught the biggest flounder that either one had ever caught. We caught reds, trout, whiting, shark and other small fish. Captain Hector took what should have been a bad day and turned it into a GREAT experience. We are already planning 2 offshore trips in the spring with him. The best charter captain I have had the pleasure to fish with in my 57 years." - Anthony
Let's break down some of the top catches you'll be targeting on this trip:
Black Drum: These bruisers are known for putting up a great fight. They love hanging around structure and can grow to impressive sizes. The bigger ones make a distinct "drumming" sound when caught - it's pretty cool. They're most active in the cooler months, so fall through spring is prime time to land a big one.
Sheepshead: Don't let those human-like teeth fool you - these guys are no pushovers. They're masters at stealing bait, so hooking one takes some skill. But man, are they fun to catch and even better to eat. Look for them around pilings and oyster beds.
Redfish: Also known as red drum, these are one of the most popular inshore species. They've got that distinctive spot on their tail, and they pull like freight trains when hooked. You can find them in the shallows, often tailing in the grass flats. Fall is a great time to target the big bulls.
Bonnethead Shark: These smaller cousins of the hammerhead are a blast to catch. They're quick, they fight hard, and they're pretty common in our inshore waters. Spring and summer are peak seasons for bonnetheads.
Blacktip Shark: Now we're talking some serious action. Blacktips are known for their high-flying acrobatics when hooked. They can get pretty big, so be ready for a workout. Summer is prime time for these toothy critters.
Alright, folks, let's wrap this up. Our Private 5-Hour Inshore Fishing Trip is the real deal. Black Drum are the big boys of the inshore scene, often weighing 20-30 pounds but can reach up to 90. You'll find them hanging around oyster beds, mudflats, and other structures in brackish water. They're bottom feeders with powerful jaws that can crush shellfish. Spring is prime time when they school up to spawn. Anglers love targeting them for their strong fight and good eating, though I recommend keeping the smaller ones under 15 pounds for the table. The bigger ones can get a bit tough. To land one, use fresh crab or shrimp on a circle hook. Fish it right on the bottom and be ready - when a big drum takes the bait, you're in for a workout! One local trick: listen for their distinctive drumming sound to locate a school.
Blacktip sharks are a summer favorite here. They typically run 4-5 feet long and are known for their acrobatic leaps when hooked. You'll find them patrolling near artificial reefs and in deeper channels, usually in 20-100 feet of water. They feed on smaller fish like mackerel and herring. Anglers love targeting blacktips for their powerful runs and aerial displays. To catch one, use heavy tackle with wire leaders. Fresh cut bait like mackerel works well. Here's a local trick: chum the water with some mashed-up oily fish to bring them in close. Be ready for a fight - when a blacktip hits, it often comes with a spectacular jump right out of the water!
Bonnethead sharks are the little cousins of the hammerhead family, usually 3-4 feet long. You'll spot them by their unique shovel-shaped head. They cruise our shallow coastal waters and bays, especially in summer. These sharks are actually pretty timid and mostly eat crabs and small fish. Anglers enjoy targeting them for their spunky fight and the novelty of catching a shark. They're not prized for eating, so we usually release them. To hook one, use a chunk of blue crab on a circle hook. Fish it on the bottom in 5-15 feet of water. Here's a tip: look for them in schools of 10-15 sharks swimming together. Once you find a school, you can often catch several before they move on.
Redfish are a staple of our inshore waters. You'll spot them by their copper color and black spot near the tail. They love cruising the shallows - I'm talking 1-4 feet of water. Look for them around oyster beds, grass flats, and creek mouths. An average redfish runs 20-30 inches, but they can grow much bigger. Fall is prime time when they school up. Anglers love targeting reds for their hard fights and excellent table fare. They'll hit a variety of lures, but nothing beats a live shrimp under a popping cork. Here's a local secret: on sunny days, look for their tails sticking up as they root for crabs in the shallows. Cast just ahead of them and hold on tight!
Sheepshead are a real treat to catch around here. These striped "convict fish" usually run 1-8 pounds and love hanging around docks, bridges, and other structures. Their human-like teeth are perfect for crunching barnacles and crabs off pilings. Early spring is the best time as they gather to spawn near passes and reefs. Anglers enjoy the challenge - sheepshead are notorious bait stealers. You've got to be quick on the hook set. The delicious white meat makes it worth the effort though. Here's a local tip: scrape some barnacles off a piling to chum them up, then drop your bait right in the mix. Use light tackle and small hooks baited with fiddler crabs or pieces of shrimp. Patience and a sharp eye are key to landing these crafty fish.
